Red balloon

Well I was pretty much forced to do this, using the tools available (Gimp in this case).... I looked out my office window to see a little red balloon flying away, past clouds and patches of blue sky. I was too slow (it was too fast) to grab my camera and even if I'd managed, it would have been a dot with the strength of my zoom! Needs must.

Clearly I couldn't be bothered with the detail in the foreground! The sky and balloon are what matters.

New book

I started a book this week, for the first time since finishing college over a year ago. Yesterday and today were mostly spent with a spot of paper cutting.

A turnip in his dominion....

Edit: Seems i never actually posted this at the time... Ah wel, here it is now!

Cartoon drawn in response to a puzzling blog post I'd read about the London riots, in which the blogger ended on something along the lines of "there's always someone willing to use you as a turnip in their dominion". Which I guess made sense. He was talking about the mood of the post-riot clean-up he'd been at, where that 'broom picture' was taken, and repeatedly used by journalists to illustrate whatever angle they were using for their article.
Anyway, it struck me as a strange expression, so I decided to try and envision it.
Needless to say I do not have Photoshop or associated skills.

I did something else!!!

The dress
Well, this is what I have been working on every Wednesday evening for the last couple of months or so....! Not the best picture, but still, evidence of my creation :) Had a lot of very nice comments on facebook and one commission even!
Oh and I also finally have that purple hair I was talking about....!

I DID SOMETHING!!!

Wooooo!! I actually did something!! I made cupcakes....! They were kind of supposed to be made for a friends Tiki Blowout all-weekender at The Lanes, but I also had a sponsored Bristol-Bath skate (13 miles approx) and Roller Derby practice that weekend, so it didnt happen. I had however promised cakes to any Briz-Bath skaters who finished so I made them the following weekend anyway... I made a whole big batch so just took them to practice Sunday :)

Here's one cake... (There was meant to be a little icing lei draped on top, but the flowers took soooooooo long to make, and the leis to assemble I gave up in the end!)

Ship Shape

Its late and I'm tired, but its been a month, so you're due a post...!

The bout was a total success! 500 tickets sold, turning people away at the door, a man telling me what a great day he'd had (this guy was enthusing, not just being polite). I think Bristol loves Derby!! :-) Lots of hard work by all, but such a brilliant day (and night!). BRD I love you all :)

Sweet shopping!

How awesome is my boyfriend? I took him thrifting today and while I looked at dresses, he found me this! $30's worth of bookage for £3. Win! And wow, what an inspiration! This chick is insanely talented; a total powerhouse.
